Mission
Comfort Cases provides backpacks or duffel bags filled with essential items to foster children, so they can have a sense of dignity and care during such a difficult transition. Since its founding, more than 260,000 Comfort cases backbacks have been given to youth entering the foster care system in every state in the US, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom.

Each “Comfort Case” typically includes items such as:

Pajamas
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Shampoo, conditioner, and soap
A blanket
A stuffed animal for comfort

For nearly ten decades, it has greeted audiences with beauty, warmth, and a sense of possibility. It also serves as an intimate performance space for small gatherings and special events. But it’s been more than 50 years since it was last painted, and time has taken its toll. The details are still there—but the color has faded, the glow has dulled, and the space no longer reflects the magic it holds. 

This project focuses on restoring the walls and architectural details of the Grand Foyer (the ceiling will be addressed separately due to its specialized needs).

We aim to raise $40,000 to cover the cost of high-quality paint and the work of a master craftsman painter—someone experienced in the careful, detailed brushwork our ornate interior requires.

The foundation was created in honor of SSG Marc Small, fiancé of Amanda Charney, foundation director. Marc had dreams of Amanda opening her own private practice and came up with the name, “Small Steps in Speech” to symbolize her soon to be last name along with the small steps children must take to build their communication skills. I’m Dinalynn Rosenbush, a mom, grandma, and Speech-Language Pathologist for over 30 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech and language challenges and navigated parenting struggles of my own. Through both training and lived experience, I learned how using specific language in intentional ways builds safety, trust, and growth. Communication isn’t just about words, it’s about how children feel when we speak to them.

I’m here to help you understand what your child is really communicating and respond in ways that build listening, speech, and connection. You’ll learn how to support communication—even with speech or language delays—set boundaries that truly help kids, and strengthen your relationship at the same time. My mission is to help busy, worried parents learn to read behavior as communication. When we understand what children are telling us, we begin to communicate differently.

These ideas work for typically developing children, kids in dual-language homes, and children with delays. When your language invites discovery, curiosity, and exploration, connection is born. Connected kids are more courageous. They listen better. They have fewer meltdowns.

Hope for Wildlife is a charitable wildlife rehabilitation and education organization located in Seaforth, Nova Scotia. Since 1997, we have rescued, rehabilitated, and released over 90,000 injured and orphaned wild animals representing over 250 species.

In addition to the ongoing provision of care we offer, Hope for Wildlife aims to connect people to wildlife in a positive way through knowledge and understanding. Every year, we respond to over 40,000 calls, texts and emails. We welcome thousands of visitors to our facilities for tours, give hundreds of offsite educational presentations to community and school groups, and collect a wide range of data from animals treated at our rehabilitation center.

OUR GOALS
Our mission comprises three very important goals:

1. Rescue, rehabilitate, and release back into the wild injured and orphaned wildlife.

Since 1997, we have rehabilitated and released over 90,000 injured and orphaned wild animals representing over 250 species. Animals we treat receive food, medicine, shelter, and whatever else is needed to ensure a successful return to the wild.


2. Educate others about the importance of conserving wild animals and the ecosystems that sustain them.

Every year, we assist over 40,000 callers, texts and emails and welcome thousands of visitors to our facilities for tours, and give hundreds of offsite presentations to community and school groups.


3. Research and develop the knowledge and understanding necessary for the conservation and management of wildlife.

We collect a wide range of data from animals treated at our rehabilitation centre, which provides valuable insight into the health of local populations. Our work also offers opportunities to learn about the protection of various species in complex and continually changing biological, social, and political environments.

Love Your Feral Felines (LYFF) is a non-profit rescue organization devoted to giving cats and kittens a second chance at life. Supporting San Diego County and surrounding areas, our organization focuses on saving the most at-risk felines from our local shelters’ euthanasia lists. Freedom from Torture supports people who have survived torture to heal, feel safe and strong again.

Our vision is a world free from torture. We aim to ensure that the human rights of survivors are restored through rehabilitation and protection. We fight to ensure that states responsible for torture are held to account.

The experiences of people who have survived torture drive and inform everything we do. Survivors play a leading role in designing, delivering and evaluating our work and their input is vital for improving our services and how we do our work.

Our therapists work with survivors to rebuild their physical and mental health. Our doctors document evidence of torture, and our lawyers and welfare advisors help survivors with their asylum cases and social support. We also support other organisations delivering high-quality rehabilitation services.

Together, we speak out to expose torture and defend the rights of survivors, nationally and globally. We hold torturing governments to account. And we campaign for women, men and children to be treated fairly when they seek safety in the UK after being tortured.

We are able to do it all because we are backed by an active movement of compassionate, outspoken supporters. And as our movements for social justice gain ground globally, it matters more than ever that people with direct experience of torture are leading our common calls for change.

Our specialist model of treatment comprising psychological rehabilitation, social welfare, legal protection and access to communities of support helps support survivors on their journey toward recovery.

Our impact
Since our inception, we have supported thousands of torture survivors. Through our clinical services, we provide life-changing support for hundreds of men, women and children who have survived physical and psychological torture.

At Freedom from Torture, we campaign for better treatment of torture survivors in the UK. Backed by thousands of supporters, our award-winning Stop the Flights campaign forced airline Privilege Style to back out of the government’s cruel Rwanda refugee expulsion scheme.

We also drive positive change through our strategic litigation work. Following one of our legal challenges, an estimated 45,000 people who crossed the Channel in 2022 were not exposed to the heartless policy of turning back migrant boats, potentially saving thousands of lives.

We believe in offering safety to people who risk being tortured elsewhere. We are committed to tackling structural inequality and promoting diversity and inclusion in all of our work to achieve a world free from torture. Freedom from Torture was founded on Christmas Eve 1985 by Helen Bamber and Amnesty International volunteers for the Care of Victims of Torture. Prior to this, there were few services available for people that had survived torture. For 40 years, we have been helping survivors overcome their torture and live better, happier lives. We use the expertise and evidence gained from our direct work with torture survivors to expose torture practices across the world.

Founded in 1953, the Canadian Hemophilia Society (CHS) is a national voluntary health charity. Its mission is to advocate to improve the health and quality of life for all people in Canada living with an inherited bleeding disorder until cures are universally available. Its vision is a world free from the pain and suffering of inherited bleeding disorders.

The Canadian Hemophilia Society (CHS), whose national headquarters are in Montreal, is an organization that works at three levels: nationally, provincially and locally. We have ten provincial chapters across the country. Some of our chapters have additional local structures that we refer to as regions.

Its Board of Directors is made up of individuals with valuable skills. Provincial chapters are managed by their own Board of Directors. Many chapters are separately incorporated and have their own charitable registrations. Three provinces—Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba—currently have offices with permanent staff. All chapters work in accordance with CHS by-law and conform to national policies. The national organization and its 10 chapters share a common vision and mission. The CHS has approximately 300 active volunteers across the country.

The CHS is affiliated with the World Federation of Hemophilia, which is officially recognized by the World Health Organization. We work in collaboration with health care providers in Canada’s 26 inherited bleeding disorder comprehensive care treatment centres, the blood system operators (Canadian Blood Services and Héma-Québec), the Network of Rare Blood Disorder Organizations, the hepatitis C community, the AIDS community, and others who share our common interests.
