Girls on the Run Shenandoah Valley is a nonprofit youth development organization that empowers girls in 3rd–8th grade through a research-based program that blends physical activity, social-emotional learning, confidence building, and mentorship. Serving communities across West Virginia/Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Girls on the Run helps girls develop self-confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and positive mental health during the critical pre-teen and middle school years. Through a team-based after-school program led by trained volunteer coaches, participants explore topics such as self-esteem, emotional wellness, healthy relationships, goal setting, decision making, and kindness while training for a celebratory non-competitive 5K event that marks the end of each season. Girls on the Run Shenandoah Valley is part of the larger Girls on the Run International network, which has served more than two million girls across North America. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running and life skills.
