The Helpo Association is a secular, non-political non-governmental development organization that has been active since 2008 in Portugal, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Guinea-Bissau, promoting development through education, nutrition, and maternal and child health, Humanitarian and Emergency Aid, and Education for Development and Global Citizenship. Helpo operates in 101 intervention areas, building schools, libraries, daycare centers, nutrition centers, school cafeterias, rainwater harvesting systems, and providing community training, health education, assistance, and ongoing training. Helpo funds these activities through the Long-Distance Child Sponsorship Program, voluntary donations, and projects funded by international agencies and companies, currently reaching 181,828 children.
