Grits And A Brit

Jay Kay

Grits and a Brit is a transatlantic comedy of errors. She grew up saying “y’all” and frying anything that didn’t run away; he swears a cup of tea fixes nearly everything—except Mondays, which demand two. She says cookie, he insists it’s a biscuit. Chips or fries? Somehow they’re both right and very wrong. It’s a podcast where a Southern-born GRITS (Girl Raised In The South) and her British co-host unravel the absurd, endearing, and endlessly confusing quirks of US and UK culture—expect sass, mistranslations, and spirited arguments over everything from colour with a U to gravy on biscuits.

Episode

This episode of Grits and a Brit comes from a very personal place.

Recently, one of our hosts experienced a stroke. One ordinary day suddenly became something very different — filled with fear, uncertainty, and the long road of recovery.

For this special Podcasthon charity edition, we’re sharing that story. Not for sympathy, but for awareness. Because stroke can happen suddenly, to anyone, and recognizing the signs quickly can mean the difference between life, recovery, and loss.

Behind every stroke is a person. A family. A future that suddenly feels fragile.

Stroke doesn’t just affect one person — it touches families, friends, and everyone who cares about them.

If this conversation helps even one listener recognize the signs sooner, call for help faster, or learn something that could save a life, then sharing this story will have meant everything.

Sometimes the most important conversations are the hardest ones to have. And this is one of them.

Please listen, learn, and help us raise awareness.

Jay and Chris
