In this special Podcasthon episode – ‘The Captured’ – host Andrew Martin meets family historian and blogger Natalie Mayhew, who explains how she got hooked on researching her family, and her challenges with DNA testing.

THE LIFE STORY – TED MAYHEW

Natalie tells Andrew about her Great Uncle Ted Mayhew who served in World War Two, but was captured and held as a prisoner of war for almost five years. To help them navigate the impact this may have had on Ted, they’re joined by Prof. Walter Busuttil who is a military consultant psychiatrist who served for 16 years in the Royal Air Force. He was part of the team that set up rehabilitation services for those who served in the first Gulf War, and for the British hostages released from Beirut. He is also a Consultant Psychiatrist and Honorary Advisor to the Board at the UK’s leading veterans mental health charity, Combat Stress.
