The Sunflower Conversations

Chantal Boyle

The Sunflower Conversations are where we explore non-visible disabilities through the prism of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower.

In a world where it can be hard to feel like your story matters, we want to give you a space to share your experience. Whether you or someone you care about wears the Sunflower lanyard, we hope that by giving voice to these experiences, we can empower others and encourage more people to support people with invisible disabilities.

Episode

Kate Middleton, CEO of The Wren Project, joins us for a special edition as part of the Podcasthon, which seeks to spotlight thousands of charities.

In this episode, Kate shares her personal journey with multiple autoimmune diseases and explains how the body attacks itself instead of viruses. The Wren Project pairs individuals with dedicated volunteers for up to six months of regular support. It provides vital mental health support through dedicated listening services to those living with these often non-invisible conditions, giving an essential lifeline to address and support feelings of isolation and loneliness.

If you are experiencing any issues discussed in this podcast, please contact your healthcare practitioner.

The Wren Project

The Wren Project offers listening support to people living with autoimmune diseases throughout the UK. Our aim is to reduce the loneliness, grief and isolation felt by many following a life-changing diagnosis. The support we provide is free, remote and available to anyone over the age of 18.
