In developing countries, highschool education is not FREE. Families have to choose between paying school fees and putting food on the table. And when they can't pay the school fees, girls often get married off as teens...our goal is to keep them in school. At Girls Matter, we raise funds to keep girls in school, empowering them with a better future in Uganda and Kenya. A future in which they can generate their own income, and are not dependent on their husband. This work has a generational ripple effect, because an educated woman is more than twice as likely to ensure her own children are educated. We also support girls by providing menstrual supplies, so they can go to school every week fo the month. Educating girls grows the GDP of countries. In the documentary "Girls Rising" they shared that if India educated just 1% more girls, they would grow their GDP by $55 billion. This is why we do what we do, as we know that we can change the world by bringing countries out of poverty, by educating the girls.
